  • 1 whole chicken (3.5 to 4 lbs), giblets removed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • optional lemon slices and fresh herbs for stuffing

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C) for 5 minutes.
  • Pat the chicken dry with paper towels to remove any moisture.
  • Rub the chicken all over with olive oil or melted butter.
  • In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  • Rub the seasoning mixture all over the chicken, ensuring it's evenly coated and under the skin where possible.
  • Optionally, stuff the cavity of the chicken with lemon slices and fresh herbs for extra flavor.
  • Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook for 30 minutes, then flip the chicken breast-side up and cook for another 25–30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
  • Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
