  • 6 cups fresh broccoli florets, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded or diced cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds or chopped almonds (optional)
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, and apple cider vinegar until smooth. Adjust the sweetness or tanginess to taste.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the broccoli florets, red onion, cheddar cheese, sunflower seeds (if using), raisins or cranberries, and crumbled bacon.
  • Pour the dressing over the salad and toss until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  • Cover and refrigerate the salad for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled.
