Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (or turkey, chicken, or plant-based patty)
  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder or onion powder (optional)
  • 4 buns burger buns (brioche, whole wheat, or gluten-free)
  • 1 ripe avocado (sliced)
  • 4 leaves lettuce or arugula
  • 2 slices tomato
  • to taste red onion slices (optional)
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar, pepper jack, Swiss, or your choice)
  • to taste mayo, chipotle mayo, or aioli (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions
 

  • Form the ground meat into equal-sized patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  • Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
  • Cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (for beef) or your desired doneness.
  • In the last minute of cooking, top with cheese and cover to melt.
  • Toast the buns lightly with butter or olive oil until golden.
  • Assemble the burgers: spread mayo or sauce on the bottom bun, add lettuce, the cooked patty, avocado slices, tomato, onion, and top bun.
  • Serve immediately with fries, salad, or your favorite side.
