Instructions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions. Add broccoli florets during the last 3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.
In the same pot or a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly to form a roux.
Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure no lumps form. Cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly.
Stir in cheddar and parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the sauce. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Warm through.
