Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 3/4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, drained (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion softens, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the uncooked rice, beef broth, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, diced tomatoes (if using), Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the rice has absorbed most of the liquid and is tender.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
