Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups confectioners’ powdered sugar
  • 10 cookies Oreos, crushed
  • 1 tube green decorating icing (optional)
  • as needed assorted Easter candy (chocolate eggs, jelly beans, etc.)

Instructions

  • Add cream cheese and butter to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat until smooth and creamy.
  • Add cocoa powder and beat until incorporated.
  • Add brown sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and milk. Continue beating until smooth.
  • Sift powdered sugar in ½ cup at a time, beating after each addition until fully combined. Once all sugar is incorporated, turn mixer to high and beat until light and creamy.
  • Transfer the mixture to a small serving dish and smooth the top.
  • Place Oreo cookies in a heavy-duty plastic storage bag and crush them with a rolling pin or the heel of your hand until they’re in small crumbs.
  • Spread the crushed Oreos evenly over the top of the cheesecake dip to form the 'dirt' layer.
  • If desired, use green decorating icing to pipe grass tufts on top of the dip, then top with your favorite Easter candy.
  • Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, apple slices, or gingersnaps.
