In a blender, combine plain yogurt, cold water or milk, rose syrup, sugar, and cardamom powder (if using). Blend until smooth and frothy.
If desired, add ice cubes and blend again briefly for an extra-cold lassi. Alternatively, pour the blended mixture over ice cubes in each glass.
Pour the lassi into serving glasses.
Garnish with crushed pistachios or almonds and sprinkle dried or fresh edible rose petals on top, if desired.
Serve immediately while chilled. Enjoy!
