Ingredients

  • 1 large baguette or Italian bread loaf
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well incorporated. Add garlic powder or red pepper flakes if desired.
  • Slice the bread in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves of the bread. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top if using.
  • Place the bread halves cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and crisp around the edges.
  • For extra crispiness, broil for an additional 1–2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  • Remove from the oven, slice into portions, and serve warm.
