Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 slices cheese (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up as it browns.
  • Drain excess fat if needed.
  • Add finely chopped onion and cook for 2 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  • While the sauce is simmering, spread butter on buns and toast them in a skillet or oven until golden.
  • Once the sauce has thickened, spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the toasted buns.
  • Top with cheese slices (optional), and serve warm!
