Ingredients

  • 4 fillets white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or halibut)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • to taste fresh parsley, for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the fish fillets and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and easily flakes with a fork. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the lemon juice and zest, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for another minute to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Return the fish fillets to the skillet and spoon the lemon butter sauce over them. Let the fillets warm up for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
