Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen or homemade meatballs, fully cooked
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (freshly made or leftovers)
  • 1 1/2 cups brown gravy (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • chopped parsley or green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold all the ingredients comfortably.
  • Arrange the fully cooked meatballs evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Pour the brown gravy over the meatballs, stirring gently to coat them well.
  • Spoon the mashed potatoes over the meatball mixture, spreading them evenly with a spatula to cover the entire surface.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the mashed potatoes.
  • Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dish is bubbling around the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions, if desired.

Notes

For a crispy topping, broil the dish for the last 2–3 minutes of baking. Watch closely to prevent burning.
