Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fettuccine pasta
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups chicken broth or water
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
  • Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add the uncooked fettuccine and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the sauce thickens (about 12-15 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese until smooth. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg (optional).
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For added protein, try adding grilled chicken or shrimp. For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
