Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or thinly sliced steak (e.g., ribeye)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Add ground beef or sliced steak to the skillet. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until fully browned, then drain excess grease.
  • Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the beef. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and mix well.
  • Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • In a bowl, whisk together cream cheese and beef broth until smooth. Pour evenly over the beef mixture in the baking dish.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the mixture. Layer provolone cheese slices on top to cover the entire surface.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For a low-carb option, omit the mushrooms or replace them with zucchini. To freeze, assemble the casserole, cover tightly, and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before baking.
