Ingredients

  • 1 round loaf crusty bread (sourdough, Italian, or any crusty bread)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Place the bread on the prepared baking sheet. Using a sharp bread knife, cut the bread into a grid pattern, about 1 inch apart. Be careful not to cut all the way through the bottom of the loaf.
  • In a bowl, mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • Gently separate the bread pieces and spoon or brush the garlic butter mixture into all the cuts.
  • Stuff the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese into the crevices of the bread, ensuring even distribution.
  • Wrap the bread loosely in aluminum foil to prevent over-browning. Bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.
  • Serve warm, allowing guests to pull apart pieces of the bread. Enjoy as an appetizer, side dish, or snack!
