Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
  • Melt the butter over low heat in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated and brown sugars.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  • Add red food coloring and vanilla extract, stirring well to combine.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan and spread with a spatula.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
