Ingredients

  • 2 cans baked beans (15 oz each) do not drain
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika optional, for smoky flavor
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine baked beans, sautéed onion, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir everything together until fully mixed, then pour into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Bake uncovered for 45–60 minutes, or until the beans are bubbly and the sauce is thickened.
  • Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For extra smokiness, try adding a dash of liquid smoke or a sprinkle of additional smoked paprika.
These beans taste even better the next day and can easily be made ahead of time.
