Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 3 minutes until soft.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Slice slider buns horizontally and place bottom halves in a lightly greased 9×13 baking dish.
Toast bottom buns in the oven for 5 minutes (optional to prevent sogginess).
Spread half of the shredded cheese over the bottom buns, then top with taco meat.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the meat. Add optional toppings like tomatoes, lettuce, and onion.
Place top halves of buns over the fillings.
Mix melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Brush over the tops of the buns.
Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5–7 minutes until golden.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole if desired.
