Ingredients
  

  • 2 slices whole-grain or sourdough bread
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 medium tomato sliced
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • optional fresh basil or arugula
  • optional red onion thinly sliced
  • optional cheese (mozzarella or feta)

Instructions
 

  • Mash the ripe avocado in a bowl and season with salt, black pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  • Slice the tomato into thin rounds. If using, prepare the basil, red onion, or cheese.
  • If you prefer, lightly toast the bread slices with olive oil or butter until golden brown.
  • Spread the mashed avocado generously onto one slice of bread. Layer with tomato slices, followed by optional ingredients like basil, red onion, or cheese.
  • Top with the second slice of bread, press gently, and serve immediately.
